About Jeri’s House

Empowering the DeafBlind Community.

Through independence, dignity, and hope.

Jeri’s House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals who are DeafBlind by providing transitional housing, daily living skills training, and a supportive community rooted in compassion and faith. Our mission is to guide DeafBlind adults on their journey toward independence—equipping them with the tools, confidence, and support to lead fulfilling, self-directed lives.

Founded by Jeri Sue Lynn-Cooper, a pioneering educator and advocate who is DeafBlind herself, Jeri’s House is built on her vision that every person—regardless of ability—deserves the opportunity to thrive. Her life and legacy continue to inspire everything we do, from teaching Braille and sign language to nurturing emotional well-being and spiritual growth.

At Jeri’s House, we believe independence isn’t just a skill—it’s a right. Through personalized programs that teach communication, mobility, self-advocacy, and more, we empower each resident to unlock their fullest potential. Whether learning how to prepare a meal, navigate their environment, or build meaningful relationships, our residents are supported every step of the way.

We are more than a place to live—we are a place to grow, to connect, and to believe in what’s possible.

Why Your Support Matters.

Transforming Lives Through Independence

Jeri’s House stands as a welcoming place where individuals who are DeafBlind can gain the skills, confidence, and community they need to thrive on their own terms. Through instruction in Braille, sign language, advocacy, and daily living skills—as well as engaging in hobbies and personal interests—residents build the foundation for independent, dignity-driven lives.

One Person at a Time, Reaching Full Potential

Every individual who walks through Jeri’s House is seen, valued, and encouraged to achieve their highest potential. Grounded in a faith-based mission, the organization fosters self-esteem, empowerment, and a sense of belonging within a nurturing environment.

From Experience to Expertise

Founded by Jeri Sue Lynn‑Cooper—a DeafBlind educator whose life story is one of resilience, transformation, and compassion—Jeri’s House embodies her legacy. Today, it continues her mission of guiding others from isolation to independence, turning challenges into stepping stones.

I spent a week at Jeri’s House in search for what I felt I needed in some updated training due to extreme decline in my vision. I found I was already doing a lot of the “tricks” we as deaf blind people do. This gave me much needed confidence and assurance I am doing many things correctly and in the most efficient way.

Jeri’s House is a beautiful home environment with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, a training room, a comfortable living room, some exercise equipment, and lots of large windows. It is a two story home and has very secure railings for the stairs.

The staff and SSPs Jeri employs are very talented and supportive of Jeri and consumers. I enjoyed feeling like I was a part of the conversations involving more than one person. I felt included, rather than alone in a room with other people.

Being at Jeri’s House isn’t just about training. We enjoyed going out in the community to shop, eat a meal, grab a cup of coffee, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company in the evening.

Jeri is an amazing lady who is very much supported by her community, friends, SSPs. She is dedicated to helping anyone and goes over and beyond to solve any issues one may have.
